"We can help to promote a healthier body positive view of nudism if we help people to understand the roots of the conflicting views at work in the human psyche." I think this is happening, and a lot of our currently frantic political activity is a reaction to attitudes' shifting quickly. Not quickly enough for honest people who just want to live their lives, but too quickly for the collective unconscious, which cannot help shifting, but likes to do it slowly. I don't know what to do, except speak the truth...you know..."even when your voice shakes."

I don't think that I am trying to prove anything to anyone else by being nude for the people I am nude with. I do recognize that I am empowered by my nudity, just as I was robbed of power by my nakedness. My nudity has always been for me. nakedness was imposed; every time I am unclothed by personal choice, particularly unclothed in non sexual company, I become a freer person and I lose another layer of the self-loathing many survivors of sexual abuse hold death grip on.

I know full well that I meet no one's beauty standards but I have finally learned that someone else's beauty standards do not make me less a person so long I can recognize my own worth as a person. Naked or nude I am a person, have an inherent value and, decades after my abuse ended I can recognize that and claim both words as an affirmation of my personhood.
